Alvis Nichols was raised in the Shamrock Shores/White Rock church family. His first ministry service was several summer internships with the congregation while in school at Oklahoma Christian. He has now been involved in ministry for 34 years. His local church ministry experience includes preaching and developing programs of educational instruction, community outreach, and congregational involvement. Over 20 years have been spent in pulpit preaching and in ministries with a strong preaching emphasis.
Alvis is a graduate of Dallas Christian and Oklahoma Christian University. He has received a Masters Degree in Biblical Studies from Abilene Christian University. For several years he served as the Associate Minister for the Edgefield Church of Christ in Dallas. For thirteen years he served as the minister for the Wills Point Church of Christ. For the past two years he and his wife Jan have been living in Trophy Club/Roanoke community where he served the Hilltop Church. April 1st of 2003 Alvis accepted the invitation to serve as the minister of the Wylie Church of Christ.
Alvis and Jan have two children, Julie Truex of Piano and Brent Nichols of Niteroi, Brazil. Julie is married to Bryan Truex and has three daughters, Reagan, Cheney, and Haley. Brent is married to Miss Jill Hayes. They are part of a mission team establishing a congregation in the city of Niteroi, Brazil. They have one son, Titus born in May of 2012.
